Epic 3: Part 4
Apparently in 1891AD I'm the largest Civ:
Which is always good news - particularly as it means I might be in the running for the UN elections even if I fail to get the wonder built myself. I'm not planning on relying on that, though. When Mass Media is discovered in 1894AD I switch Cuzco over to building the UN. While I'm waiting for this to complete I use Hatty to get some techs:
And get Liberalism myself - revolt to Free Speech/Free Religion:
Followed by Democracy - revolt to Universal Sufferage/Emancipation:
I was mostly after Universal Sufferage - paying for buildings appealed. And as soon as I was out of anarchy I switched Science off for a while & concentrated on building up some cash. Finally in 1923AD I was in a position to buy the UN:
And UN finished in 1924AD. I've never done that before!
With Science back on, my goal was Biology - I wanted to be able to grow my cities more. I started farming over the cottages on some of my biggest cities - starting with Cuzco, moving on to Tiwanaku and a few others. Tiwanaku looked most promising for growing large.
Hmmm. Dunno about the possibility of a diplomacy win:
After I get Biology I aim for Assembly Line then Railroads - and switch all my cities (pretty much) over to churning out Infantry. Then in 1967AD Roosevelt starts going for Victory:
In 1984AD I cancel my Defensive Pact with Roosevelt in the hopes that the other two civs will like me more. And start building Tanks (Roosevelt has very kindly hooked up an Oil resource for me to get cultural control over.
Roosevelt fails to win (again) in 2000AD and wants a Defensive Pact with me again, I refuse, still hoping for popularity points with the other Civs. I'm beginning to think about trying to get Hatty to join me in stomping the French, then she might love me more. Just as I start to really consider this:
He's only tipped my hand a little bit (not quite got any tanks yet). And Hatty is positively delighted to be invited to join my war:
Surely she loves me best now?? It doesn't seem to affect the vote we're in the middle of, but next time, maybe? The Egyptians stomp all over the French, while Roosevelt still tries to win:
The Egyptians have got conquered all the French cities that were putting cultural pressure on my cities - and I even get to Orleans first:
The still don't love me most, though, even though I hosted the war:
At this point I figured it was all over in 4 turns time - Roosevelt just needed that 1 more vote & Hatty loved him most. But the next vote up was for Secretary General so I had a reprieve for another 4 turns. I voted for myself on auto-pilot and didn't even look at the other person in the vote. So I was a little surprised to see this next turn:
Looks like Hatty's population has outgrown Roosevel'ts! And Roosey loves me!! I'm not sure if he loves me enough to vote for me to win, but I re-arranged my diplomatic affairs to try & ensure it. First, peace with Louis (Roosevelt loves Louis too, he's a loving kinda guy). Then a defensive pact with Roosevelt - I'm your friend, really I am. And finally in 2027AD I call a vote to try & win:
Fingers crossed!
I win! Woohoo! With less than 40% population, too, so it's a true Diplomatic Win :)
Final scoring point was largest fully fed city at game end - which was Tiwanaku. Managed to get it up to size 33:
