Even once you discount the nearly 4000 dead of plague there&#8217;s a nicely varied list of possibles, many of which are much less likely to kill you these days.  Yay for modern medicine!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/jangosteve.com\/post\/380926251\/no-one-knows-what-theyre-doing\">No-one knows what they&#8217;re doing<\/a> except those who don&#8217;t know how much they don&#8217;t know, and they&#8217;re dangerous &#8211; a slightly different take on the causes of imposter syndrome.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tor.com\/stories\/2014\/04\/my-real-children-excerpt-jo-walton\">&#8220;My Real Children&#8221; by Jo Walton<\/a> is a book I want to read, based on that excerpt.  According to amazon it&#8217;s not out over here till August tho.  So I need to remember to either buy it or check the library nearer the time!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesixthaxis.com\/2014\/04\/12\/civilization-beyond-earth-announced-will-take-the-series-to-the-stars\/\">A new Civ game is announced for this autumn<\/a>.  I&#8217;m a bit conflicted here, it looks like it&#8217;ll be Civ 5.5 and I didn&#8217;t like 5 as much as 4, but the set in space thing might be rather cool.  I&#8217;ll likely end up buying it despite any doubts &#8211; I did get a little over a hundred hours out of Civ 5 after all and that&#8217;s quite a long lasting game \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>TV I set recording last week:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/b00jwcb1\">Mud, Sweat and Tractors: The Story of Agriculture<\/a> &#8211; series about history of agriculture over the 20th Century.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/b040tm16\">Ian Hislop&#8217;s Olden Days<\/a> &#8211; series about the British obsession with the past over the ages.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/b00qbq7f\">Chemistry: A Volatile History<\/a> &#8211; series about the history of chemistry as a science, presented by Jim Al-Khalili.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/b0409s91\">Britpop at the BBC<\/a> &#8211; one-off programme about Britpop from the perspective of 20 years on.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>TV I set recording this week:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/b0401phs\">Thatcher and the IRA: Dealing with Terror<\/a> &#8211; one-off programme.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/b00wh6lz\">At Home with the Georgians<\/a> &#8211; three part series about the history of domestic life (I think).<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/b041zbd8\">24 Hours on Earth<\/a> &#8211; one-off programme looking at animal behaviour and how it changes over the course of a day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I think I&#8217;ve seen this before but any time you might feel like it would be nice to live in some other time, here&#8217;s a nice little list of all the ways Londoners died during one particular week in 1665.
