Tidied up the front garden, and it now looks a lot better. I cut back the bush on the right a lot, but I think I’ll be doing it again in the not to distant future given how much new growth there is. You also can’t see in the picture but I weeded the gravel as well, tho I didn’t clear up all the leaves in the flowerbed (as at least once I’ve found a frog hiding in the leaves at this point in the year).

It was such a good week weather wise that I also managed to get more done in the back garden – including mowing the lawn for the first time this year. There’s rather a lot of moss in it, I should probably put weed & feed on it for the first time in a few years.

I also made a start on one of the back flowerbeds. The geraniums were a good choice when J’s Dad planted the garden for us, but the thing that makes them a good choice is also a little problematic nearly 20 years on – they outgrow & smother everything else. So there’s nearly no weeds but the plants have spread out into the grass and killed pretty much everything that used to be in the flowerbed with them. I think for this half of the flowerbed I’m going to try and find the edge of the lawn again (and put more grass seed on the bare patch), as well as clear back around the few other plants still standing. Then the other half round the corner I’ll take the whole lot out & re-plant this year with a bit more of a variety again.
